Another win for the boys on Sunday 23 June 2019.
Match Report by Robert Ashwell, Manager
"Bedfordshire U11 returned to Eaton Socon for their home match against Lincolnshire’s U11. Once again Beds won the toss and elected to bat. Harry Wilson-Brown fell early on, but Captain Mustafa Haroon (40) and Mohammad Ali (18) put on a strong 73 run partnership to reach 77 in the 16thover. The two batsmen fell in consecutive overs and by the 20th Beds were 88/4. Another good partnership of 59 between Ayaan Malik (37) and JJ Stocks (33) got the team to 147/5 with eight overs to go. Ayaan continued and Hasan Dar steadied the tail, his 7 runs from 20 balls saw him not out at the end of the innings (40 overs) and got Bedfordshire to 178 for 9. Lincolnshire’s bowlers performed well under the pressure from the two partnerships, and endured many changes, however Mason McDaid with three wickets and two catches was their pick.
"The Lincolnshire innings started slowly, Beds opening bowlers Arsh Mulla and Fintan Horsman kept things very tight, by the end of their session Lincs were 14/2 after 10 overs. Arsh Mulla bowled 4 maidens and conceded 1 run on his 29th of 30 balls. The third wicket fell to a second run out and introduced Lincs’ George Morris to the attack. Lincs rebuilt their innings, Morris struck 3 consecutive fours in his first over, but was limited to singles after that, a fast scoring partnership of 66 between Sillet and Morgan-Plowright saw Lincs at 138/5, 30 overs and drinks. Needing 40 from 10 overs Mustafa had reintroduced our opening pair. Wicket! First ball after drinks Arsh gets his man, the following dot balls led to frustration and direct throw run out by JJ Stocks, his second of the innings. Another wicket to Arsh, then another to Fintan, both bowlers reached their allocated overs, Arsh bowled 8 overs, 3 wickets for 8 runs, Fintan 1 for 20. Lincolnshire lost their final wicket to Hasan Dar (2 for 17) on 145 in the 35th over. Great fielding, two catches, Mustafa and Paul Cooper, and three run outs, Ayaan and JJ. A special mention for all the bowlers, we conceded only one wide in two matches, four balls from the end!
"Another win and another great tea from Eaton Socon, the boys want this as their home ground!"
