Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Huntingdonshire joined Essex Cricket in the Community on Wednesday 5 September to celebrate the work undertaken by their volunteers across the eastern region.
Local county OSCAs winners and those given a special mention outside of the nomination process for their outstanding volunteering were invited to spend the day at Essex CCC watching a first-class game – day 2 of the 4-day match against Surrey – enjoyed lunch and tea and were presented with their certificates.
Special guests included former English first-class cricketer and Essex County Cricket Club Head Coach Anthony McGrath, Australia and Essex Cricketer Peter Siddle, former Essex and England Captain Graham Gooch, Essex County Cricket Club President David Acfi eld and Essex and Surrey Stars player Mady Villiers. ECB Director Martin Darlow was the Master of Ceremonies for the event and during the day interviewed McGrath, Siddle and Gooch.
Cricket East’s Head of Community Cricket said: “I have received some wonderful feedback; everyone had a fantastic day. The day was a small thank you to the team of volunteers who contribute so much to this wonderful game.”
