Weeks of planning came to fruition on Saturday 31 August when community cricket came to Central Park in Peterborough.
The aim was to bring different communities together and promote a healthy lifestyle through cricket.
A team made up of members from 5 City Mosques beat a Peterborough Council, Police and Fire Service team by 18 runs to retain the Peterborough Community Cup donated by Cricket East.
In the afternoon, youngsters from our two Lord’s Taverners Wicketz Hubs – Gladstone and Dogsthorpe – played each other for the first time showcasing the development of the Wicketz project to date and the continued commitment to support community integration in the City. All the youngsters were in World Cup teams – Australia, Bangladesh and West Indies! The West Indies side won overall - well done to all taking part.
Thanks to Kayleigh from the RAF Regional Engagement Team as they continued their Cricket East Wicketz Project Support donating prizes to the winning team.
