Exciting news for Luton and staff update...
At present there may be no recreational cricket being played across Bedfordshire & Huntingdonshire; however, Cricket East are assisting in the installation of seven non-turf pitches and two dual lane net facilities over the coming weeks in Luton. It is one of ten locations nationally that has been branded as a “Core City” by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and as part of the 11-point South Asian Core City Programme (SACCP) action plan, facilities is one of the priorities. These new facilities in Luton will provide access to year-round cricket opportunities and reduce the challenges of availability, quality and cost to play. While, this is exciting news for many, we would like to also take this opportunity to inform the cricketing community that these new installations will not be accessible for the public to use until the government advises us it is safe to do so.
Whilst furloughed, Chantal Hardy our Chance to Shine & Education Coordinator has been kindly volunteering with two organisations, the Salvation Army in Dunstable and Go Dharmic in Luton.
At the Salvation Army in Dunstable, she has been organising and labelling all food donations that are coming in. As well as stock checking she also packs about 20 food bags a week as emergency supplies for anyone who needs them. More information on the Dunstable Salvation Army can be found at: www.salvationarmy.org.uk/Dunstable
At Go Dharmic, Chantal has been collecting food parcels and then delivering them to elderly and vulnerable Luton residence. There are several different routes around Luton, around 10 houses per route, whereby food is delivered. More information on Go Dharmic can be found at www.godharmic.com
