Looking back over a successful year.
Cricket East is committed to providing the same quality service in 2018/19 as it did in 2017/18 – we are in the top 5 performing counties delivering national products to provide more children with more opportunities to play the game in as many different formats as possible.
With recent changes to Cricket East, we look back over the past year and celebrate some of our achievements.
All Stars: a 66% increase compared to 60% nationally, with plans in place to increase and improve on the number of centres and children involved in traditional and non-traditional environments in 2019
Womens Soft Ball: a growing number of festivals and potential for some soft ball leagues across Cricket East in 2019
Chance to Shine: we coached in 210 schools (target 202), reached 22,955 children (target 12,716) and delivered 5,208 hours (target 5,015)
Chance to Shine Street: 2 projects in Bedfordshire will become 7 projects in the coming year in Beds, Cambs & Hunts
Wicketz: Peterborough and Luton Hubs are building from a successful start, exploring ideas around growth and sustainability
Core City Project in Luton: awarded second year funding and key focuses established
U19 Club T20: a successful 2018 competition with 30 teams entered and a first ever Regional Finals Day
Coach Education: joined up approach leading into 2019 and a consistent pricing and booking system
ECB Clubmark: quality as well as quantity – 33 clubs in 2018 across 4 counties
Welfare: a huge increase in fully qualified Club Welfare Officers to achieve safeguarding requirements
Affiliation: a consistent model across Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire already underway and being administered brilliantly
ECB Small Grant Scheme: more clubs benefiting from the grants, all funding allocated
So, with a great year under our belt, we look ahead to 2019 which promises to be an exciting, huge season for cricket as we welcome both the World Cup and an Ashes Series.
