Twenty Club Welfare Officers across Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire updated their Safe Hands training in February and a further 29 have already signed up for training in March.
Club Welfare Officers are vital members of the club and are key to making a safe, welcoming and friendly environment for children to enjoy the game of cricket.
Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire had very few child welfare issues during the 2018 season and this is testament to Cricket East’s ongoing efforts to ensure that clubs appoint and train their own Club Welfare Officer (CWO) as well as increased confidence shown by Club Welfare Officers in being able to handle various in-club matters.
