On Thursday 3 January, Cricket East took its most gifted Luton performers to play in a Wicketz championship at Edgbaston Indoor Cricket Centre.
There were two teams each from Manchester, Birmingham, Redditch and Luton. As well as playing cricket, they also took part in an anti-knife crime workshop delivered by the Children’s Society.
Congratulations to the Luton A team who won the final by 17 runs - Luton A 70, Redditch 53 all out off 9.2 overs. Man of the Match in the Final was Luton’s 16-year-old Huzaifa Hussain who scored 21 runs in one over which greatly contributed to the win. Man of the Tournament was Luton’s 13-year-old Mehraab Khan for his bowling contribution.
At the event, Luton’ Wicketz Development Officer Amran Malik gave an interview to four international South Asian and Pakistani news channels which have been broadcast throughout Pakistan – tune in to some of the broadcasts HERE and HERE.
