The Wicketz project in Luton, funded by Lord’s Taverners, has now been delivering free cricket sessions to children in the town for over 3 years.
The Hubs which run every week day now regularly see in excess of 150 children aged 8-18 – highlighting the passion for the game in the town.
The purpose of the project is to use cricket as a vehicle for social cohesion, to break down barriers, and bring communities closer together. As well as cricket, the children and young people are educated on some of the issues in and around Luton and what they can do to prevent these issues from escalating further.
Luton Wicketz Development Officer Amran Malik said: “Cricket unites, it brings everyone together!”
