A Key Stage 1 Rapid Fire Cricket Festival took place in November at Hinchingbrooke School, Huntingdon with teams from 7 schools
– Thorndown Primary, Great Gidding Primary, Godmanchester Community Academy, St Helen’s Primary, St John’s Primary, Ramsey Spinning Infant and Winhills Primary - and almost 90 children competing from Years 1 and 2.
The Festival was organised by the Hunts School Sports Partnership and supported by Cricket East – the first time we have arranged a KS1 competition with Hunts SSP and the first time it has run indoors.
We trained 12 Young Leaders from Hinchingbrooke School to help set up, run, umpire and score the competition. One of the Young Leaders dressed up as Twinkle the All Stars Cricket mascot to make it more fun for the children. The children played 5 matches each and had the opportunity to have their photo taken with Twinkle.
The feedback from children and teachers was great with lots of fun had by all.
