Local schools will be busy competing this month!
The Indoor Lady Taverners competitions concluded at the beginning of May with representation at the regional events by secondary schools from across Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire at the University of Cambridge Sports Centre. The U13 competition was held on 26 April and Cambridgeshire’s The Perse School won this event to progress to the National Competition. The U15 competition took place on 1 May and The Perse School won again with Bedford Modern School in a respectable fourth place. Well done to all the girls that took part this year.
Local schools across Beds and Hunts will be busy competing in the Kwik Cricket Competitions in May and June with the aim of reaching the County Finals in late June and early July. For 2019, the ECB are partnering with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and participating schools will have the opportunity to win ICC Cricket World Cup money can’t buy experiences. The younger children in Years 3 and 4 will be competing in their school sport partnership regional competitions playing continuous cricket, Year 5 and 6 playing softball pairs cricket and Years 7, 8 and 10 playing hardball limited overs as well as the Chance to Compete 8 a-side softball competition. In Beds and Hunts the U13 and U15 competitions will take place in July and are again being supported by The Fred Trueman National Schools Cricket League which will see around 40 schools enter. The Hunts Chance to Compete competitions will take place in June and we will also be running Girls and Mixed softball competitions for the Chance to Compete competitions at both U13 and U15 age groups in July.
