South Regional Young Adults Street Competition
On 18 February, Cricket East took two Luton Street teams to compete in the Chance to Shine Street South Regional Competition at Haileybury School in Hertford.
Teams from Surrey, Middlesex, Essex, Bristol and Oxford played a round-robin format of tape ball indoor matches which led to a Quarter Final, Semi-Final and a Final which was contested by both Surrey teams.
One of the Luton teams finished third after winning the third/fourth place play-off match against Middlesex.
It was a fantastic day of Street cricket – played hard but in great spirit – which will culminate in Luton been a part of the National Finals later in the year.
Cricket East now has six Chance to Shine Street projects in Bedfordshire and the most recent starting at the beginning of March in Peterborough. This includes two projects in Luton that are for girls only.
