Following the success of our 2023 event, we’re excited to host our second Volunteers Conference at Wixams Academy (Wixmas, MK42 6BA), bringing together the wider cricket community to support clubs and the incredible volunteers who make cricket happen across Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire.
This year, we’re delighted to welcome experts in their fields who will deliver interactive workshops designed to help your club grow and develop its volunteers. Plus, lunch is provided—all completely free of charge! Below, you’ll find the event itinerary and workshop options.
We are running sessions in the morning and afternoon, so there's plenty of opportunity to attend what you'd like to.
Volunteer Day Workshops:
The Future of Club Development – James Simpson, Senior Manager for Clubs and Leagues at the ECB, will deliver a session on using the ECB’s new club development framework, designed to assist volunteers make develop those plans and actions to have a real impact on their clubs.
Future-Proofing Your Club from Climate Change & Available Funding – Delivered by Graham Simpson from BeActive. Graham will provide advice and guidance on funding options available to clubs, focusing on options to support club become greener as Sport England begins to focus on this important topic.
Introduction to Play-Cricket Scorer – A simple introduction for volunteers on using the Play-Cricket Scorer app to score junior matches easily and accurately. Perfect for parents or supporters looking to assist their club on match days
Growing Women & Girls' Cricket in Clubs – Damianne Redpath, our Women & Girls' Lead Officer, will present a step-by-step guide on how to introduce and develop women’s and girls’ cricket at your club.
Talent ID & Pathway – Sam Rose, Cricket East’s Head of Talent Pathway, will deliver a session on the player journey from Hotshots through to our U18 squads. He will cover how to identify talented players within your club and the route into performance cricket.
Coach Development – Fast Bowling – Cricket East’s Talent Pathway Coach, James Exley, will lead a workshop on the fundamentals of fast bowling and how to help young bowlers improve their speed.
Introduction to Umpiring – Peter Hinstridge, ECB ACO's Regional Officer and a qualified umpire, will present an interactive workshop covering the basics of umpiring. This session is designed for those players taking the coat for 10 over or those parents or supports who are keen support their clubs junior matches.
National Programmes Activator Training Session – Cricket East’s James Exley will deliver a training session for new and existing activators preparing for the return of All Stars and Dynamos Cricket in May.
