Cricket East will again be supporting the Young Leaders in Cricket Programme in 2024, which over recent seasons has seen over 300 young people go through the programme and volunteer in clubs across Hunts and Beds.
The programme is for people aged between 14-16, most popular with youngsters in school years 9 & 10.
Its purpose is to give them the opportunity to develop leadership skills that will allow them to volunteer within their cricket club and/or school.
Modules for this year’s programme start in April and run through the season.
The programme comes in two parts.
Part 1 – Training, modules include:
- Coaching (face to face)
- Officiating (face to face)
- Grounds keeping (face to face)
- First Aid (face to face)
- Mental toughness (online)
- Fundraising (online)
Part 2 – Volunteering & Fundraising:
- Minimum of 20 hours volunteering needs to be completed within a club, community or school environment.
- Fundraising a minimum of £60, which goes back to supporting the programme and their charity, Cardiac Risk in the Young.

- Gain certificated qualifications.
- Contribute towards Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, bronze medal and potentially silver (but check with your local DOE organiser)
