Luton’s Many Voices, One Town campaign was launched in partnership with Luton Council, Luton in Harmony and Building a Stronger Britain Together on Wednesday 24 October at the UK Centre for Carnival Arts in Luton. The launch event featured the unveiling of a series of films that told the stories of seven inspirational young people from Luton.
Abdus Salaam who is a Coach Support Worker for Wicketz Luton was nominated as one of the seven inspirational people. He has used cricket to overcome a difficult past and now acts as a coach and mentor to his peers in the cricketing community. Through his passion for cricket he encourages young people to never give up on themselves no matter how difficult life gets. Watch Abdus’ story HERE.
Working with the council, voluntary sector organisations, schools and communities across Luton, the campaign aims to celebrate Luton as a diverse and tolerant town. Cricket East’s Wicketz Development Officer Amran Malik will be working on the campaign for six months to help to bring people together and build a stronger, more cohesive and resilient community.
