Cricket East is pleased to welcome a new member of staff to strengthen the team.
Jonathan Bigham is the new development officer in Peterborough for the Lord’s Taverners Wicketz Programme, delivered in partnership with Cricket East. Over the next three years he will be setting up year-round community-based cricket clubs in Peterborough, aimed at giving disadvantaged children aged 8-15 an opportunity to not only play cricket, but to improve their health and well-being.
Jon has a background in sport, including working as a Sports Development Officer for 10 years for the City of Lincoln Council and in Secondary Education sport. He is also a Cricket Umpire in Lincolnshire.
Jon said: “I’m extremely excited to have been given the opportunity to deliver this fantastic programme and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in to the role and using cricket to better the lives of young people in Peterborough.”
Cricket East’s Diverse Communities Officer Dave Summers added: “Jon has the opportunity to take the lead in adding further detail and value to the shape of Community Hub cricket activity in the City, working with key partners to meet local needs under the Lord’s Taverners “Wicketz” initiative. He brings with him wider experience and knowledge of working in other sporting environments including previously in Peterborough.”
