AK11 are top of the Hunts Indoor League but only on alphabetical order as both Ak11 and Bretton have an identical record after the 3rd round of matches in the Hunts Indoor League. Both AK and Bretton have a 100% record of 3 wins out of 3 and both have taken the same amount of opposition wickets throughout the season so far. Bretton made it 3 wins out of 3 in a nervy game against Hampton. Bretton did not bat for their full 10 overs as they were bowled out in 9.3 overs for 130 with Ethan Bennett top scoring with 41. Bennett received useful middle order support from Tom Sanderson (28), Andy Bennett (26) and Neil Buckingham with 20. The pick of the Hampton bowlers was Nadeem Choudhari with 2-18. Hampton were soon in early trouble at 46-4 but with 4 wickets down there was no retiring for the batters. Hampton Captain Ali Shah led from the front with a brutal unbeaten 85 which included 7 sixes and 3 fours. A 5th wicket partnership of 76 developed between himself and Muhammad Zafar. 15 was needed from the last over and then 9 needed from 3 balls but an outstanding back wall catch from Mark Drake to dismiss Zafar for 25 saw Bretton maintain their unbeaten start.
Ak11’s 100% start to the season was a far simpler affair. They restricted Werrington to 78 all out in 9 overs with Sudheer Jafeer leading the way with 2-16. Bilal Mushtaq scored over half of Werrington’s total top scoring with 44. AK raced to their victory target of 79 losing only 1 wicket on the way. Both openers Zaheer Abbas and Abrar Ahmed both retired with 27 and that solid platform at the top of the innings saw them over the line with 30 balls remaining in the match.
Pak Azad were back to winning ways and have now won 2 of their first 3 matches of the season. Pak Azad’s 144-4 was built around scores in the 20’s from Najeeb Ur-Rehman, Hayder Ali and Abdul Waris. However, Pak Azad were helped as Wansford conceded 36 extras which included 27 wides and 4 no balls! Pak Azad were almost equally as generous giving away 25 extras which included 14 wides and 7 no balls! Wansford Captain Kelsey Brace top scored with 40 and despite a quickfire 15 at the end of the innings from Dhasarath Janardhan Wansford were to fall short mainly down to Danyal Iqbal with 2-19 and a brilliant direct hit run out.
Last years Champions Ufford Park have had a disastrous start to their title defence losing the opening 2 matches. However, they made it 3rd time lucky with a 38-run victory over Whittlesey. Whittlesey also came into this match with two defeats, but Ufford flew out of the traps scoring 158-1 from their 10 overs. Shoaib Chaudhry led the way with an unbeaten 42 and the majority of the Ufford players chipped in with Waheed Javed (27), Usman Sadiq (26) and Saj Ali (25) all retiring and Muhammad Raheel unbeaten on 23. Whittlesey started well and had raced to 62 after 4 overs, but 3 quick wickets pegged them back. Whittlesey did finish on 120-5 from their allotted 10 overs due to the brilliance of Captain Josh Fox who hit four sixes and five fours with a brilliant knock finishing unbeaten on 68.
