The Online DBS Application Process is now live and applicants/post holders who need to complete a new application online can do so, providing they have a valid email address.
If a club member needs to apply for a DBS/or renew their DBS at the end of the 3-year period, the process is as follows:
- Applicant should contact their Club Welfare Officer (CWO) and ask for them to initiate an online DBS application for them. If the CWO has been registered as an Online ID Verifier and has access to the system, they can then initiate the application when the applicant provides them with the following information: First Name, Surname, Date of Birth, Email Address
- If the CWO is not registered as an ID Verifier yet, they will not be able to do this, so applicants should contact the Cricket East Office on 07880 636482 or enquiries@cricketeast.co.uk and a member of staff in the office will initiate the application for them. On this instance they will need to provide the following information: First Name, Surname, Date of Birth, Email Address, County, Club/Organisation
Applicants who are not members of clubs should contact the Cricket East Office and follow that process.
Once the application has been initiated, applicants will receive an email link to complete their application and should follow the instructions step by step as directed on the portal. If you don’t receive the email, please check Junk and Spam Folders prior to contacting Cricket East or ECB DBS to query.
The applicant will be asked to input details of three pieces of ID evidence (e.g. Passport, Driving Licence, Birth Certificate, Utility Bill, P45/P60) as part of the application and then they will submit it. On submission, they will receive an email from ECB stating the next steps and providing them with the contact information of nearby Online ID Verifiers.
ID Document Verification
The applicant then needs to contact a verifier and arrange to get their ID documents used in their application verified. Any registered Online ID Verifier in the country can verify the documents.
Again, if the CWO is registered as an Online ID Verifier, they can do this. If they are not registered and the details of the local ones are inconvenient, please contact the Cricket East Office as members of staff can arrange to get documents verified.
Once an ID Verifier has approved the documents and submitted the application, it goes off to DBS and will usually be turned around in 7-10 days, sometimes quicker. Applicants will receive their certificate through the post as normal. After this, there is no need to do anything else except keep it safe.
CWOs can keep track of applications for their club as they go through the process if they are registered as Online ID Verifiers via their system. Again, if they are not registered, Cricket East staff can also track the progress of applications.
Why is online DBS better than the paper form? Why would I want to move to online DBS?
- It’s a lot quicker and simpler to complete.
- You can do it on your mobile phone.
- Once you’ve completed the application, then the next step of getting your ID checked is much quicker and simpler.
- Once you have applied for a DBS you are signed automatically to the digital update service which means that as long as you stay in a cricket role that needs a DBS you never need to apply again!
- If you fit into the category of requiring to pay for your DBS (non-volunteer) then there is a simple integrated payment system.
- Its, quicker, simpler, faster to get and still free!
