Our Talent Pathway programme aims to support the best young players from across Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire, through high quality coaching and playing opportunities, to reach their fullest potential.
Players in Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire can follow a player pathway for representative cricket from Under 10 Junior County Age Group cricket through to Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire County Cricket Club First XI, or through to the professional game via our partners at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club (Mens) or Essex County Cricket Club (Womens)
Bedfordshire County Cricket Club and Huntingdonshire County Cricket Club run the senior men's representative sides at Under 25 and First XI levels. Bedfordshire offer Over 50s & Over 60s cricket and Huntingdonshire offer Over 50s cricket.
Our Programmes
Hotshots
Hotshots is our Early Engagement Programme, aimed at 10-12 year old boys and girls from School Years 5, 6, or 7
The programme is designed to develop junior cricketers, identify county players using Talent Identification and is the entry level point and start of a Cricketer’s journey in Bedfordshire & Huntingdonshire.
Our dedicated and skilled Coaches will deliver fun, engaging & challenging sessions to help develop cricketers for the future and create an open and wide Talent ID & Development System.
Training will be a mixture of soft and hard ball activities, we ask participants to be confident enough to train with a hard ball
Talented players will be identified throughout the Programme and will be given various opportunities to showcase their skills including our Summer Festivals and Performance Days in the summer months, where talented players are brought together to compete against neighbouring counties and other representative teams.

County Age Group Pathway 13 to 18 - (School Years 8 to 13)
Our County Age Group Pathway running from school years 8 to 13 is aimed at providing talented local players with opportunities and access to cricket to improve in a performance environment. We have multiple opportunities for players to be able to access the programme, and observations take place annually over several months of Talent Identification before players are signposted either to County Training Squads, or Development Hubs.
In the summer months, players can be selected to play for County Age Group representative teams no matter where they have previously been signposted to in the pathway, for example a development hub player who has improved throughout the winter can be selected in the same way a player from the County Training squad is eligible for selection.
Boys - Emerging Player Programme
Through talent identification across the winter and summer, we select a small number of boys from our boys pathway to take part in our Emerging Player Programme. This programme is designed to challenge players to develop further, with the aim of eventually migrating on to Northamptonshire County Cricket Club's (our first class partners) Academy at 16+.
The programme involves year round training and match play opportunities, and a focus on developing not only cricket skills, but athletic development, knowledge and understanding of the game, and additional modules such as nutrition and psychology, to develop young players understanding of what it takes to succeed when pursuing the goal of professional cricket.
Girls - Emerging Player Programme
This programme is run by our partners at Essex County Cricket Club, with talented players who are identified from Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire, signposted to Essex for further observations and potential selection for either their Emerging Player Programme or Academy.
We support our most gifted players from our Girls Pathway by offering additional training opportunities wherever possible, to help prepare them for future opportunities with Essex if/when identified as being potential players for them to observe.
